FireWorks can let you to optimize your JPG pictures, by using a selective compression. With some samples, you can use focalisation to improve some details of the image.

To start, just import your JPG file.

Select the Lasso tools to select the area you want to be focalised. When the good area
is focalised, users don't see some area of the image, where you can improve compression.

Use Filters, deploy Sharpen, and use Sharpen (do it twice if you want more focalization). Area selected with the Lasso tools is now focalized, giving the impression the image is in a better quality.

In the Optimize window, select JPEG - Smaller File. This will give you a very good compromise between quality and space. Finally, choose File, and Export.
Even if FireWorks done a great job with your JPEG file, you can optimize it further with a more advanced compression tool, as ScriptJPG, and losslessly. Download it, decompress the ZIP archive, and just Drag-and-Drop your PNG files ON the ScriptJPG script.

Drag-And-Drop your file, and select option 1, Optimize JPG. Your JPG is optimized very quickly, losslessly.
